What is my abandoned scheduling email not firing?

The following applies to paid plans as this comes in the setting where you adjust the bot's skills.

You want to increase the likelihood that all your site visitors schedule a meeting even though they may have gotten busy and left the chat even though the calendar dropped in the conversation.

However, in testing it, you see that you only receive the chat fallback email and not the abandoned scheduling email.

One of the causes can be that your domain has not been verified in DKIM, and thus the email that is firing does not appear to reach the site visitor. However, it is fired, but instead, it ends up in spam and or blocked by the email provider/ security because it is not perceived as legitimate.

Let's walk through how to get this firing on all cylinders.

The first step is to go to settings -> app settings -> Drift Widget -> Bot -> Abandoned scheduling, and we have to see if they have it toggled on to say "Book More Meetings."

The next step is to verify if you have their domain verified here: https://app.drift.com/settings/dkim

If it says needs verification, then the emails are firing, but they are ending up in spam or block by the email provider/ security.

Thus, what we need to do is as follows:

Go to Settings > App Settings > Conversations > Email Sending Domains

1. Click on Add Domain

Next

2. Enter your email address from the Whitelabel domain that you want to add, and select an encryption level. 1024-bit is the default and recommended unless your IT team requires otherwise.

Note: If you create a 2048-bit key, you'll likely need to split the record in your DNS provider's system. Consult their documentation for more information.

Now you have "Successfully created sending domain" after you hit Save. But there are still a few more things we need to do, no fear, as they are super quick.

Then a "Successfully created sending domain" after you hit Save. But you're not quite done! Above where you added the domain, you should now see that your domain needs verification:

Above where you added the domain, you should now see that your domain needs verification:

Select Needs Verification. and now you will need to input the DNS entries to set up authentication.

Use this information to change account settings with your DNS provider. It will look something like the following:

Note: If you do not know who your DNS provider is, reach out to your hosting service. Otherwise, we would recommend that you send the above information along to your company's IT department to have them set this up.

Once you've entered the records with your DNS provider, it can take up to 48 hours for these to be validated. You won't be able to "Verify" them in Drift until you receive confirmation from your provider.

 4. When your domains are validated by your provider, return to Drift and click"Verify."

The final result should now display verified, and the TXT record should say Verified as well. It should like below.

Once verified this will then send both the chat fallback email if you have it toggle on in Settings -> App Settings -> Drift Widget -> Advanced -> Email Follow Up or here: https://app.drift.com/settings2/widget/advanced and the abandoned scheduling email.
