How to install Drift on a Wordpress site

edited April 12 in Settings

Important note: If you want to install Drift on your WordPress site, then you will need to have a WordPress business plan to make this possible.

Haven't gotten Drift yet? Then take it for a test run on your WordPress by doing the following steps.

  1. Visit the Drift homepage and enter your email address to signup for an account.
  2. Visit your WordPress site and login into your Admin section. E.g., http://yoursitehere/wp-admin/
  3. Follow the instructions below to get setup.

Already have an account?

Login to your WordPress Admin section, select the Add New screen under Plugins, and search for Drift. (E.g., http://yoursitehere/wp-admin/)

Now click the Drift plugin and select install.

After it is installed, find the Drift Plugin and click Install.

The Drift Plugin will be at the top of the screen, and it will show the following:

The next step is to input the Drift code into the snippet box in WordPress. In order to find this snippet log into Drift and go to settings -> app settings -> Drift widget and scroll down to install; click on it and then click on the Javascript box to reveal the code or use this link to get here quicker: https://app.drift.com/settings2/widget

To turn Drift Live on your site, click Enabled in the drop-down menu. If you don't want anything to appear on your site just yet, be sure to turn off your widget and your Playbooks, respectively.

The last step is if you want to allow Drift to recognize your logged-in users, check 'Drift Identify.' This enables the email addresses of people who are logging into your WordPress site to pass into Drift automatically.

Note: Keep in mind that if you’re using a caching plugin in WordPress, it may take a few hours for the Drift widget to show up on your site. If it isn’t showing up, try clearing your cache, and that should get it live. Let us know if we can help out!
