Brenna here from Drift support, I am so sorry to hear that you are running into this issue. I have not yet been able to reproduce this issue on my end. I see that you are on IOS9 but I wanted to ask you which specific device you are using? Also, can you please tell me if you are seeing this in other browsers or is this just happening within Safari?
Thank you!

Thanks for the reply.
We have reproduced this on iOS 9 on an iPhone 4S. It also happened in Chrome on the same device. That's pretty expected though, since I believe that on this iOS version, all browsers are bound to use Webkit, and thus the same webkit version

Any news?

Hi @Julie Kessel I am so sorry for the delay here. Would you mind sharing the Drift email that you use to log into your account? I am looking into this further with my team now.

Thank you @Julie Kessel !
I created a support ticket for this, we will reach out via email shortly!

Brenna here from Drift support! I wanted to let you know that this was escalated to our widget engineers and they confirmed that we, unfortunately, do not support Safari 9, which is why the widget is not working.
I am very sorry for the inconvenience caused here. Please let us know if there is anything else we can help out with.
Brenna

Thanks for the reply. So up until which version of Safari do you support?
-
Hello?
-
Hi @Julie Kessel , Apologies for the delay! We support ios 10 and above (safari 10+)
-
Thanks for the reply
-
Good news for us. I think it crashes in the same way on iOS 10.0.2 on an iPad Air 2. You can reproduce this on Lambdatest
-
It seems to also crash on certain versions of Chrome on Windows 10. Up to which version of Chrome do you support on Windows?
-
Hi @Julie Kessel looking into this right now, i'll reply back here as soon as I have an answer for you!
-
Hi Julie,
I did some testing on my end and got the bot to appear in on all Chrome versions above version 40. Can you please let me know if you are seeing it crash above on any versions of chrome above version 40?
Thank you!
-
Absolutely. Chrome 70.0.3538 on Window 10
-
Hi Julie, thank you for letting me know, when this happens, do you see that same error you initially saw? or are there other errors popping up in the dev console?
-
I didn't reproduce it myself, but we got an alert from Sentry that it crashed on a user's machine. The error message was slightly different:
SyntaxError: Unexpected token 'const'
at None (/include/1646838900000/ccd2nvza2h7u.js:1)

Any news on this?

Hey @Julie Kessel I am so sorry for the delay in response here. I was OOO all last week. Have you seen any other instances of this error on newer versions of Chrome since it was last reported? The reason I ask is that we did have a brief outage of our widget services arund when this was reported, which may have caused the error. If you are still seeing this, please let me know.
-
This cannot b caused by an outage of your service. This is JavaScript crashing, this means that your JavaScript code is not syntactically correct for some JavaScript interpreters. Ask an engineer they'll understand.
In any case, you said you support iOS 10 right? As I mentioned it crashes on iOS 10.0.2 on an iPad Air 2, so this should be turned into a bug opening
-
Hi @Julie Kessel you are correct, thank you, I am reaching out to our engineers to take a look and I will follow up via email once we have more infomation!
-
You're welcome
-
Hi @Brenna Morgan ! Any news on this?
-
@Brenna Morgan I received your email 4 days ago but not the result of your meeting with engineers. Any progress on fixing this crash?
-
@Brenna Morgan I got your email about how Drift actually doesn't fully support iOS 10.
How about Chrome 70.0.3538 on Window 10?
-
@Brenna Morgan how about Chrome 70.0.3538 on Window 10?
